Dispute the Accuracy of Your Uber Background Check

1. How does HireRight help Uber check your background?

  • Depending on the applicable regulations, laws, and practices where you want to drive with Uber, they might ask for one or more background checks. This can include your entire adult history starting when you turned 18. Uber can get these background checks from different companies, and one of them might be us.

  • If Uber chooses us, we may run some background checks for them. However, it's important to know that our checks don't include your driving records.

  • After getting all the background checks from all possible companies, Uber decides who can drive for them based on this information.

2. What can HireRight do for you?

  • We can give you a copy of the background check we ran for Uber.

  • If you tell us there's a mistake or something missing in the background check we ran for Uber, we can fix it.

  • If we make a correction, we can give the updated background check to Uber.

3. What HireRight can't do for you?

  • We can't get you copies of – or fix – any background checks from other companies that Uber might use. If you need help with those, you should reach out to the company that did those checks for Uber, like Checkr (for background checks) and Samba (for driving records).

  • We don't know about Uber's decisions. So, we can't tell you what Uber decided or why. If you would like answers regarding their decisions, you should contact Uber directly.

  • We don't make Uber's decisions. So, we can't help you get back your driving status, even if we fix something in your background report. If you want to start driving again (even after we fix your background check), you should talk to Uber.

If you think there's a mistake in the background check HireRight ran about you, you can dispute it with HireRight. We can only help if the information in our report is wrong or incomplete.

We know this report can impact your driving status, so we aim to fix it quickly. However, depending on the details, fixing it might take up to 30 days (or up to 45 days in special cases).

6. How can you speed up the dispute process?

You can help us fix things faster by doing a few small things.

For all disputes

  • Check the Vendor: If your report doesn’t mention HireRight, we can’t help you. Instead, please check the Uber Support links for how to contact the vendor that gave Uber your background check.

  • Provide the Request Number: If you can, give us the Request Number from your background check. You can find this in the background check that we gave to Uber. Click here if you need a copy of your HireRight background check.

For criminal history

  • Share the Case Number: Share the case number or describe the offense on your background check. Enter which state and county reported the record you're disputing.

  • Tell Us What’s Wrong: Check a box to say what's wrong and explain. Please provide as much detail as you can.

  • Add More: If you have more criminal records to dispute, click "Add Another Criminal Search Dispute" to add them.

For driving records or motor vehicle records

We don't give driving records or motor vehicle records to Uber. You should contact Samba using the information on Uber’s support hub.
